The eraser is one of the articles of stationery they are used to remove the marks of pencil. The erasers have rubbery consistency and are usually available in white color. But with the advent of modern techniques the erasers are available in almost all colors. Erasers are made of rubber but more specialized and best quality rubber include vinyl, plastic or gum like materials in them.

The erasers, which come attach to the pencils, come in green, pink or red with smooth rubbery structure. Sometimes the color of the rubber very well goes with the color of the pencil. The erasers are good but care should be taken as sometimes it tends to smear and can damage the paper if used roughly. One more eraser, which is very popular with the artists, is the art gum eraser. It is manufactured with the help of soft coarse rubber especially made to erase large areas without damaging the paper. But the gum eraser crumbles as it is used and leaves lot of eraser residue, which is sometimes very annoying and increases your work. Therefore many artists use broad brush to remove the residue from the paper.

The kneaded eraser is very popular among the artists and widely used by them. It is made fro gray or white pliable material that resembles putty or gum. It picks up the graphite and charcoal particles with precision without leaving behind any residue. This is the reason for the kneaded eraser to last long and work with precision. The kneaded erasers can be shaped by hands and used for precision erasing for detailing work or to create highlights.

Vinyl erasers mostly white in color have soft plastic like texture and erase more efficiently than standard pink eraser. Engineers prefer these erasers at work on technical drawings due to their gentleness on paper. Vinyl erasers are used for erasing light marks and precision erasing as they smear when used for erasing large areas.
